Association / Aims

Aims of the Association are:

1. The creation of a medium that will undertake the task of preservation, expansion, upgrading of the present collection of agricultural tools and the research and study of the special folkloric features and elements of tradition of our homeplace.
2. To cultivate an interest in the people for folklore and tradition and its safeguard.
3. The cultural and educational upgrading of its members regarding issues of folklore and tradition.
4. The provision, protection, discovery, exhibition and promotion of the abovementioned elements of the Aphitos area.
5. The purchase and collection of works of art and folkloric material.
6. To support the state mediums for the acquisition of folkloric objects of our area and the surrounding area through public auctions.
7. The publication of literature regarding the abovementioned or contiguous aims.
8. The revival of various customs that reproduce and preserve tradition.
9. The creation of an archaeological collection complying with the conditions of the law.
10. The financial backing for excavations in collaboration with the relevant supervision services of antiquities, the financing of studies regarding either the building where the collections are being exhibited or the actual collections. The assigning of projects in connection with the preservation and the recording of the various folkloric elements. The financing of structural, technical and technological maintenance of the building where the folklore collection is presently housed.
11. The smartening up of communal spaces in the Aphitos area of the Municipality of Cassandra .
12. The protection of the environment.
