"Aphitos of Athitos" represents an institution which has successfully been in existence for the last ten years. It is located in the beautiful, historical and for this reason preservable village of Athitos, in Southern Chalkidiki , in the middle of Cassandra. This institution concerns a festival of literature, art, creation and tradition and its aim being the cultural development of the area, of its residents as well as of its visitors. For at least sixty days, from mid July till the beginning of October , the former village under community legislation which is now the municipal division of Aphitos, becomes natural scenery where music, theatre, dancing, cinematography, painting, pottery and sculpture are honored. It concerns a big cultural workshop where people and ideas meet in a common space-time continuum, where aspects and oppositions function together to finally bring to existence the desired structure of our cultural identity. Every year, in this "artistic biotope" the inhabitants of Aphitos welcome the mystics of their place and practice communion and communication despite the times being friendless.
